Headache & Migraines

Headache & Migraine treatment in New Albany, Indiana

Do You Suffer from Headaches or Migraines?

Are you one of the 90% of Americans who suffer from headaches? No two headaches are created equal.  Headaches can vary from constant to frequent to occasional. Some headaches cause not just debilitating pain but also nausea/vomiting and visual and hearing disturbances. They can be one-sided, 2-sided, front-back, or all the above. Headaches can feel like a vice, pressure, stabbing, poking, piercing, throbbing, and/or pounding, and more. They also do not discriminate young or old / male or female; it seems everyone is susceptible to headaches.

DO I HAVE A HEADACHE OR A MIGRAINE?

There are dozens of different types of headaches and even more sub-genres. The more common types are tension, Temporal, Sinus, Hypertensive, Cervicogenic, Occipital…Migraines (not even the most painful) are a special type with many sub-types. They are vascular events triggered by light, sound, smell, hormones, food, or drink. They can be incapacitating. Sometimes, they don’t even cause pain but disabling phenomena known as aura and prodrome.

REGULAR HEADACHES

There’s really no such thing as a “regular” headache. There are more variations to headaches than there are grains of sand in Ocean City. When it comes to headaches, few of them actually occur because of something wrong in the head. With many headaches there is a known cause and ways to either fix or manage them with chiropractic, PT, massage, laser or other treatment modalities. Even with rare conditions, we’ve been able to control the pain and symptoms for our patients.

Treatment for Headaches

What do you do when you suffer from a pounding headache? Do you grit your teeth and carry on? Lie down? Pop a pill and hope the pain goes away? There is a better alternative.

Just as there are many types of headaches, there are just as many different treatments. As with most things, all treatment plans need to start with a thorough exam and diagnosis. At that point, our doctor can prescribe the best path for you. Be it Chiropractic, Physical therapy, Massage, Laser, or a combo of any or all.

TREATMENT FOR HEADACHES AND MIGRAINES IS TWO-FOLD

#1: Treat the symptoms and provide relief

#2: Discover why headaches/migraines are occurring & provide solutions to prevent further occurrences.

Our goal is to stop the headaches or migraines, heal the area, and prevent them from happening.

Those who suffer from headaches and or migraines should seek treatment as soon as possible, but it is never too late. The professionals at McAllister Chiropractic understand first-hand how frustrating it is to get answers. Even neurologist’s have recommend chiropractic care, physical therapy, and vitamin supplements as a first choice for the treatment of headaches and migraines since medications only treat the symptoms instead of treating the cause.
